happy trails...to me
geary blvd goes across the whole city, through many neighborhoods, but it will always mean the richmond to me. the richmond quickly became my comforting home once i moved to the city, it symbolizes a great change in my life. and now 2 years and 7 months later, i've outgrown this spot and am ready to move on and live in my own apartment. the richmond has provided me a decent size room with attached bathroom, garage parking and free laundry - things that are golden to have in sf for the cheap price i was paying.
i'd been in a scurry to pack all my crap and realized i have more shit than i proudly claimed to have. while cleaning, i found my very first bus transfer that i remember wanting to keep for memories, dated aug 18, 2007. i remember being so excited and proud to ride the muni for the first time. i was all smiles. i took the 38 down to union square and i remember trying to act very nonchalant, not wanting to show that i was a newbie. at my stop, i stood by the door waiting for the back door to open. a few awkward seconds later, some old chinese man from behind yelled, "push!" and reached over my shoulder to push on the bars. the doors opened and i jumped out as soon as i could. the greater the embarrassment, the quicker the lesson is learned.
during my last weekend in the richmond, i did a few cool richmond activities before saying goodbye. after a long run in golden gate park, i picked up a pastrami sandwich from AK Meats and ate it at spreckels lake while watching the boats sail by. i made sure i hit up gordo's, bill's and joe's ice cream. i know i could always come back for these things but you know how it is, i'll be too busy exploring my new area to come back as often as i think. i'm def going to miss being so close to gg park - all the free concerts and the numerous private patches of grass perfect for picnic lunches and naps on a sunny day. and though dolores will be a hop and a skip away, it's definitely got a different vibe to it. i also took advantage of my garage for the last time and changed my oil. i'm not sure when i'll be able to work on my car again at my new place.
the move is bitter sweet but definitely more sweet than bitter. i'm excited to start my new life! bye bye richmond. thanks for everything.

run out of flat beds?
fear not! the tow truck fairy has come to the rescue. not only did this guy give me a ride to the tire shop, he also provided me with inspiration to get fit via P90X. his genuine passsion alone made him worthy of a spot on their infomercial. all thanks to a flat tire.
