warm park nights

opera in the park, movie in the park. it's amazing how everyone rallies for park events in the city. since moving to sf, the park has replaced the beach and on a sunny day, instead of picnicking at the beach, we picnic at the park. now, burying your feet in grass isn't easy and wearing your bathing suit at the park is kinda awkward. you might hear a wave or two but that's just those loud people doing "the wave". i guess on the up side, it is pretty nice not having to scrap tar off the bottom of your feet and dealing with sand all up in your butt crack.

my 30th birthday weekend

longsilag and fries and won $80 from blackjack, tegan and sara at a free in-store concert and skydiving!

thumb tendinitis :(

i should have known when i couldn't give a proper thumbs up that i had tendinitis. too bad i waited 4 weeks before getting it checked out. doctor gave me a cortisone shot and this splint (believe me, this was the prettiest they had) and sent me on my merry way. somehow i'm going to have to get used to pressing the command key without using my thumb.

i went to go see pato banton and the now generation band in berkeley because this guy from my high school plays guitar in the band. the last time i saw dan was about 12 years ago but he hasn't changed at all. well, except for his long dreads, full beard and the fact that he's in this band. sitting backstage was a trip since the whole reggae scene is new to me. talk about a movie-like experience! i was a random girl on the couch, pipe being passed around, people swigging a bottle of rum, guys with dreadlocks, someone playing the piano while another freestyles some reggae...and EVERYONE drinking red stripe.

car lashes

i'm not the girliest of girls but i think these car lashes are adorable! i actually tried some fake lashes recently for the first time and boy do they make you feel "pretty". i couldn't get over how fun blinking was! maybe i should get a pair for molly. but is it possible for an .:R32 to be prettier than it already is?

bagel fairy

i've always had a thing for bagels - onion bagels to be specific. my mom would go to the bank every single saturday morning and sometimes, she would make a stop at the bagel factory on the way home. if you're into bagels like me, you know that fresh, soft, warm bagels only can be found at real bagel shops. the bagged stuff you find at the market are so different they shouldn't even be called bagels. anyway, there's a bagel fairy at work and i don't know who it is but i love them. the bagel delivery is totally unpredictable and never announced. you just have to stumble across them, like finding 20 bucks on the street. i like it this way because anticipating a bagel day just wouldn't be as fun.

planned sex

last night my friend calls and asks me to go have drinks with her because it was a monday, we're sick of our jobs and the weather was nice for once. i hesitated because i still had to work out and i didn't want to possibly be hungover the next day or deathly tired. we were supposed to have dinner this week so i told her that we can drink then. almost immediately, i caught myself. was i actually trying to negotiate what was supposed to be a spontaneous night out? BUZZ KILL! i was embarassed because i felt that this was equivalent to having planned sex nights. have i reached that age where convenience trumps spontaneity? perhaps. but this time, i'm proud to say that i let spontaneity win and the margaritas were damn good.

for the past month or so there's been a ~20 degree difference from cupertino (where i work) and sf (where i live). cupertino has been hot enough to wear tank tops whereas the city has been cold enough to wear a coat. but today, i got off the shuttle on mission/14th and didn't have to put my sweater on! what better way to take advantage of this warm evening than to eat my dinner outside for once...wearing a tank top and shorts of course.

impulsive me

i just love a good spontaneous purchase*. an unexpected moment where without any planning ahead, you're telling your bank account that you will be less today. what a thrill! with shoes, right before i go to the counter to hand over payment, i glance at my feet and day dream about this pair becoming my absolute favorite that i wear 5 days a week and couldn't imagine life without. that always helps validate the purchase and gets me into this 'must buy' state of mind. how could i deprive myself of shoes that were meant to be? i love gray shoes, i love hi-tops. so in this situation, a shoe that is both gray and hi-top? well, that's an automatic move to the head of the class!

*bad spontaneous purchase = replacing a flat tire or buying a plane ticket for a funeral

so i stumbled on this awesome cover of "float on" by this guy ben lee. my curiosity lead me to google this guy and see what his deal was. an australian artist and oh, what's this? he was the guy in "the rage in placid lake"! no wonder he looked familiar. anyway, i'm obsessed with his version of "float on". ch-check it out!
