n'awlins
usually when i travel somewhere, it's because i'm visiting friends or family. never have i planned a trip for no reason other than pure curiosity. we got an email from steve jobs in october telling us that because he's so proud of our hard work, we all get the week of thanksgiving off, paid. how better than to use my free vacation days traveling to unexplored territory? after a lot of back and forth, a friend and i decided that new orleans was the perfect place to go, mainly because we would be able to escape cold SF for some upper 70's weather.
the culture in new orleans is amazing. the random bands playing in the street, the southern hospitality and best of all, the food! fried oyster po boys, freshly cooked beignets, gumbo and alligator sausage were just a few delicious eats i got to indulge in. and bourbon street. man, it's more intense than the vegas strip. our sat night there was so wild i'm afraid of what marti gras is like. we also explored frenchmen street which also had tons of bars with live music. i liked the underground feel it had there. the marnigy was where we saw the hipsters and let me tell ya, hipsters are hipsters wherever you go.
overall, i give this trip an 'A'. i had an awesome time. now, time to detox.

RSB install
finally installed my H&R rear sway bar. i will forever have nightmares about those circle things. taking those off was hands down the hardest part.

when you're sick at home

i like a little bit of random mixed with a little bit of awkward. i read this quote and really pondered it for a while. i thought about the possible deep meanings, wondered if it applied to my own life in any way and then decided yes, i like this one. this all took place as i was sick at home, right after i cried at lindsay lohan's spring fling queen speech in mean girls. hey, i'm needy and emotional when i'm sick. don't hate.

sonicare surgery fail
a few months back my sonicare stopped working. i was traveling at the time and when i took it out of its traveling coffin and pressed that power button, nothing. i was horrified (and that's an understatement). i had looked up some possible known issues and found a battery replacement DIY. it seemed to be logical that the battery reached the end of its lifespan so i ordered a new battery online and was pumped to try to replace it. the $3 battery, using a soldering iron and getting my sonicare back up and running were all excellent reasons to give this a go.
after removing the casing to expose the guts of this thing (btw, i really need to better maintain my sonicare because dried up toothpaste crust is not that fun), we removed the battery and then soldered the new one on there with fresh new wire. we took a volt meter to test its connection before putting the casing back on and it seemed solid. voila, it was done! but, when we put the sonicare onto its charger, i didn't see any lights. my sonicare officially died on the surgery table that night. time of death, 21:34. today i ordered a new one.
